Men’s Basketball Notebook: Home Stretch Starts Thursday

Otters head to CCAA-leading San Bernardino with postseason hopes alive

SEASIDE, Calif. — The Cal State Monterey Bay men's basketball team begins its final push for a postseason bid at CCAA-leading and No. 14 ranked Cal State San Bernardino Thursday (Feb. 9). The men will tip-off at 7:30 p.m. as the nightcap of doubleheader action with the Otter women's team.

When these teams met in December, they were engaged in a close battle when the rains came—literally. Historic rainfall in the Monterey Bay area caused a leak in the Kelp Bed roof that halted the first meeting on Dec. 3 with San Bernardino leading 42–36 late in the first half. The game will resume from that point on Feb. 20 in The Kelp Bed. Jordan Archie and Joe Wall were leading CSUMB with 10 points apiece. Brandon Knapper had 15 for the Coyotes.

Thursday's game begins the stretch run in the CCAA with seven games remaining for the Otters and Coyotes (six for the rest of the league). CSUMB (9–11, 7–8 CCAA) begins the stretch run one-half game up on Pomona, San Francisco State and Stanislaus State for the sixth and final CCAA Tournament position. San Bernardino will clinch a CCAA Tournament spot with its next win.
