NCAA DIVISION II TOP 25 POLL  OCTOBER 3 MEN'S SOCCER NOTEBOOK

SEASIDE, Calif. — Riding a 6-match unbeaten streak that includes a shutout of (then) No. 6 rank Cal State L.A. put the Cal State Monterey Bay men's soccer team into the national spotlight this week. The Otters check in at No. 15 in the latest United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division II rankings, released Tuesday.

It marks just the second time in program history the Otters (6–1–2 overall) have cracked the national Top 25 and the first time since September of 2013. They were No. 25 in that poll.

Of course, with nine matches to go in the regular season — including meetings with No. 25 Cal State San Bernardino and No. 9 Cal Poly Pomona (Oct. 20–22 in Seaside) and No. 3 Chico State (Oct. 29 in Chico) — there remains much work left to do before any celebrations commence. CSUMB Head Coach Graeme Jaap knows the team can't rest on its laurels.

"I am delighted for the guys that they have managed to be ranked in the top 25 this week. They have been working hard and thoroughly deserve it," says Jaap. "We just will keep doing our work and focusing on one game at a time"

The Otters will take their No. 15 ranking for a spin in Cardinale Stadium this weekend when they host a pair of California Collegiate Athletic Association matches, beginning with a visit from Sonoma State Friday (Oct. 6) at 4:30 p.m. Fan who can't make it to campus for the match can follow all of the action on the CCAA Network. Greg Pool and Eric Barajas will call all of the action starting at 4:20 p.m.
