Otters Start Trip With Loss At Sonoma

Mikayla Mabie scores 13 in 83-50 defeat

ROHNERT PARK, Calif. — The Cal State Monterey Bay women's basketball team opened it 2–game trip up the Northern California Coast with an 83–50 loss to Sonoma State Thursday evening in The Wolves Den.

Senior guard Mikayla Mabie (Riverside/Central HS) led the Otter offense with 13 points. sophomore Sarah Shaw (Dana Point/JSerra HS) pulled down a season–high 12 rebounds.

Sonoma put the game away early. The Seawolves led by as many as 11 in the first quarter. The lead never dipped below double digits after Chasity Spady opened the second quarter with a jumper to give Sonoma a 26–16 lead.

The Otters will conclude their roadtrip Saturday when they face Cal Poly Humboldt in Arcata. Tip-off will be at 5:30 p.m. as the opener of doubleheader action with the Otter men.
