Otter Women's Basketball Notebook vs. Cal Poly Humboldt

Note: No fans allowed at Otter home games Feb 3-5

SEASIDE, Calif. — The Cal State Monterey Bay women's basketball team returns home this weekend for a brief 2–game homestand beginning Thursday when Cal Poly Humboldt visits The Kelp Bed for a CCAA doubleheader. The women will tip-off at 5:30 p.m. followed by the men's game at 7:30 p.m.

Please note no fans will be allowed to attend as campus guidelines mandate no spectators at Otter home indoor events through this weekend (Feb. 3–5).

Fans will be able to watch online on the CCAA Network (CCAANetwork.com/csumb). 

The Otters are coming home from a tough trip in which a potentially serious injury to guard Isabel Lizarraga forced the cancelation of Thursday's game at Cal State L.A. (later declared a 2–0 forfeit win for the Golden Eagles). Saturday, the Otters hung tough with nationally–ranked Cal State San Marcos for a half, but the Cougars pulled away in the final 20 minutes for an 82–54 victory. Lauryn Pointer led all scorers with 18 points while Frances Potts matched her season high with 15.

The Lumberjacks enjoyed their first weekend playing as Cal Poly Humboldt by sweeping Chico State (69–58) and Stanislaus State (61–45) last week in Arcata. Humboldt has dressed just nine total players this season and only eight who have played since the calendar turned to 2022. Fr./F Madison Parry leads three Lumberjacks scoring in double figures at 15.1 ppg (No. 4 CCAA). Jr./G Julia Iman adds 14.9 ppg (No. 5 CCAA) and 9.4 rpg (No. 2 CCAA).

The last time the Otters and Jacks met, Emily Perez led the Otter offense for the third time in seven games with 13 points while Potts added 10 points and team highs of eight rebounds and five assists, but it wasn't enough to stop Humboldt from taking a 65–59 decision in Lumberjack Arena on Dec. 4. Julia Iman led three Lumberjacks in double figures with 24 points and a game–high 11 rebounds.
