Men’s Basketball Notebook: Otters Hope To Ground Golden Eagles

CSUMB begins weekend trip Thursday (Dec. 8) at Cal State L.A.

SEASIDE, Calif. — The Cal State Monterey Bay men's basketball hits the road for the first time in nearly a month when it travels to Southern California for a pair of games this weekend. The journey begins Thursday (Dec. 8) at Cal State L.A.. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. as the nightcap of doubleheader action with the Otter women.

CSUMB (2–4 overall, 0–1 CCAA) will be looking to bounce back from its conference opening loss to perennial power Cal Poly Pomona last Thursday night. The Otters were battling toe-to-toe with defending CCAA champion Cal State San Bernardino Saturday afternoon when a leaky roof forced the game to be paused. San Bernardino was leading 42–36 with 1:32 remaining int he first half. The game will resume from that point at a date to be determined.

Cal State L.A. (4–5, 1–2) enters the game having dropped two of its last three, including a 73–69 decision at Stanislaus State Saturday afternoon. The Golden Eagles enter the week ranked No. 3 in defense in the CCAA (71.3 ppg allowed) but last in offense (66.9 ppg).

The Otters are in the middle of the pack both offensively (No. 6, 71.6 ppg) and defensively (No. 5, 70.0 ppg allowed).
