Men’s Basketball Notebook: Otters Go For Sweep In The City

CSUMB looks for seasons weep of S.F. State on New Year’s Eve

SEASIDE, Calif. — The Cal State Monterey Bay men's basketball looks to complete a season sweep of San Francisco State when it travels to The City to face the Gators in the second game of a home-and-home series Saturday, Dec. 31 in The Swamp. Tip-off is scheduled for 3 p.m. as the nightcap of doubleheader action with the Otter women.

CSUMB (3–6 overall, 1–3 CCAA) earned a 21–point victory in the first meeting, its largest ever over S.F. State. The game was close throughtout the first half. Then Joe Wall happened.

Wall heated up after a slow start, making 8 of his last nine from 3–point range as the Otters pulled away for a 73–52 win in The Kelp Bed on Dec. 19. Wall finished with a career–high 28 points while matching his career high with two blocks and two steals. Eche Okeke and John Bakke led the Gators with 10 points apiece.

Wall earned CCAA Player of the Week honors for his effort, becoming the first Otter so honored since Jahvon Johnson won the award in December, 2017.
