Otter Men's Basketball Notebook vs. Stanislaus State

Otters looking to solidify their place in the upper half of the CCAA race

SEASIDE, Calif. — The Cal State Monterey Bay (6–4 overall, 5–2 CCAA) men's basketball team looks to solidify its place amongst the CCAA's upper echelon when it hosts a pair of conference foes this weekend in The Kelp Bed. The action begins Thursday (Jan. 20) with a visit from Stanislaus State for a 7:30 p.m. tip.

Please note no fans will be allowed to attend as new campus guidelines mandate no spectators at Otter home athletic events through the end of January.

The Otters are off to their best start ever in CCAA play, but they'll need to continue their winning ways if they are to keep pace in the grueling CCAA race. The three teams above them in the standings — Cal State San Marcos (4th), Cal State San Bernardino (5th) and Chico State (9th) — all rank in the Top 10 in this week's NCAA Division II national poll.

The last time the Otters and Warriors met, a controversial call in the final seconds gave Stanislaus the ball and, ultimately, the game, in a 57–56 decision at Fitzpatrick Arena on Jan. 23, 2020. Andrew Ferguson led the Otters with a 16–point, 10–rebound double–double. Vida Faniel led three Warriors in double figures with 13 points.
