Otter Offense Breaks Out In 5–1 Win Over William Jessup

Adrian Rebollar leads surge with a goal and an assists

SEASIDE, Calif. — Cal State Monterey Bay found it's offensive groove for the first time this season, putting five behind visiting William Jessup University in a 5–1 victory Tuesday afternoon at the Otter Sports Complex.

Five different Otters score Tuesday, led by senior Adrian Rebollar (Watsonville HS) who opened the scoreline in the fourth-minute penalty kick and later added an assist. Pedro Hernandez (Mount Diablo HS) doubled the Otter lead four minutes later and the rout was on.

San Jose State transfer Adrian Ortiz (Northgate HS) made it 3–0 just before halftime. Marcus Decouto (Turlock HS) (69th minute) and Steven Moreno (Lindsay HS) (88th) closed the Otter scoreline.

WJU's Diego Nuñez spoiled the Otter clean sheet with a goal 51 seconds from full time.

The Otters out-shot the Warriors 23–4. WJU goalkeeper Valentine Luna made eight saves in the second half.

THE MATCH WAS OVER WHEN… Adrian Muñoz (Pasadena/Cathedral HS) stoned WJU striker Paolo Ionescu from close range in the 13th minute to preserve CSUMB's 2–0 lead. The Warriors wouldn't come closing to scoring again until the match was well in hand for the Otters.

HIGH FIVE… CSUMB's five goals in Tuesday's win over William Jessup were its most in a home game since it put seven on UC Santa Cruz in a 7–2 win on Sept. 20, 2019.

REBOLLAR IS A WINNER… Adrian Rebollar's match–winning goal Tuesday versus William Jessup was the seventh of his career, tying Servando Perez for No. 2 on the Otter all–time list. CSUMB Hall of Famer Kyle Satow (2004–07) owns the record with nine.

MOVING ON UP, POINTS EDITION… By scoring three points in Tuesday's win over William Jessup, Adrian Rebollar takes over sole possession of the No. 9 spot on the Otter career points list with 33. He needs three more to pass Kyle Archibald (2003) for the No. 8 spot.
