SAN FRANCISCO — Adrian Rebollar's (Watsonville HS) second brace of the season was enough to secure a share of the spoils for Cal State Monterey Bay as the Otters played host San Francisco State to a 2–2 draw Friday evening in Cox Stadium.
Rebollar scored off a
Janos Kömmerling (Dusseldorf, Germany) feed in the 33rd minute to answer a San Francisco State goal midway through the period. Less than three minutes later, Rebollar collected his own deflection in the Gator box and slipped one inside the near post to give CSUMB the lead.
Gator Gustavo Ferrari matched Rebollar's double, however, scoring nine minutes into the second half to level the scoreline. The score stayed that way for the balance of the remaining 55 minutes.
CSUMB out–shot SFSU 14–12 and doubled the Gators in corner kick opportunities, 10–5.
THE MATCH WAS OVER WHEN… Adrian Muñoz (Pasadena/Cathedral HS) denied a Justin Wolfe attempt as the final horn sounded.
LUCK NUMBER SEVEN… Adrian Muñoz made a season–high seven saves in Thursday's draw at San Francisco State. His collegiate career high is nine saves made against Cal State San Marcos while he was a freshman at the University of Redlands in 2019.
A HIGH FIVE FOR REBOLLAR… With two goals Thursday at San Francisco State,
Adrian Rebollar moves into a tie with Nathan Northup for the No. 5 spot on the Otter career points list at 45. He needs six more points to pass Walmer Martinez for the No. 4 spot.
GOALS ARE THE GOAL… With two goals in Thursday's tie at San Francisco State,
Adrian Rebollar ties Kyle Archibald for the No. 7 spot on the Otter career goals scored list at 16. His next goal will tie him with Walmer Martinez and Kyle Millerick for fifth place.
BRACE YOURSELF… By scoring two goals in a match for the second time this season Thursday at San Francisco State,
Adrian Rebollar becomes just the seventh player in CSUMB history to score two or more goals in a match twice in the same season. The last player to do it was Walmer Martinez, who recorded a pair of hat tricks in 2019.
LEADERS OF THE RAFT… GOALS:
Adrian Rebollar 2; ASSISTS:
Janos Kömmerling 1; POINTS:
Adrian Rebollar 4; SHOTS:
Adrian Rebollar 6; SAVES:
