Brenda Uribe Named CCAA Player Of The Week

Senior midfielder become the second Otter ever to win the award

October 12, 2021

SEASIDE, Calif. — For leading the Cal State Monterey Bay women's soccer team to a pair of victories last weekend, senior midfielder Brenda Uribe (East Palo Alto/Woodside Priory) earned California Collegiate Athletic Association Player of the Week honors for the week ending Oct. 10.

She becomes just the second player in Otter women's soccer history to win the award. Goalkeeper Alyssa Noh earned the recognition in 2016 (Sept. 19) and 2017 (Sept. 18).

"It is a huge honor to be recognized in the CCAA and we are all so happy for Brenda," says CSUMB Head Coach Laura VanWart. "Her tireless work rate and her tremendous quality on the ball really made things happen this past weekend when the team really started to click. I'm excited to see what this group can do next!"

Uribe played key roles in both Otter victories last week. She became the 10th player in CSUMB history to record two assists in a match with helpers on the first two goals in Friday's 3–0 win over Chico State. In Sunday's win over Humboldt State, Uribe scored with a brilliant side-net strike from the right wing to seal the Otter 2–0 win.

The Otters return to action this week with a pair of big matches CCAA matches against NorCal foes. They'll travel to The City to face San Francisco State Thursday (Oct. 14) for a 12:30 p.m. kickoff before returning home to host 13th-ranked Sonoma State Sunday at 11:30 a.m..
