Walmer Martinez scores three goals with an assist in 2–0–0 week for CSUMB

SEASIDE, Calif. — After recording the second hat trick in Cal State Monterey Bay men's soccer history, senior forward Walmer Martinez (Soquel HS/Cabrillo College) earned California Collegiate Athletic Association Player of the Week honors for the week ending Sept. 15.

He is the first Otter men's soccer player to earn the honor since goalkeeper Jesus Ochoa for the week ending Oct. 29, 2017.

Martinez's hatty, the first by an Otter since Adam Volodor turned the trick in a win over Cal State East Bay on Oct. 29, 2016, led CSUMB to a 4–0 win at Academy of Art Sunday afternoon to cap a 2–0 week for the Otters. Martinez also had an assist in a 2–0 win over Texas–Permian Basin on Friday night.

For the season, Martinez has five goals and 11 points through the first four games. That's the most by an Otter to kickoff a season.

CSUMB is off to the best start in program history at 4–0–0. The Otters will host local rival UC Santa Cruz Friday (Sept. 20) for their final tuneup before beginning CCAA play.

Advance tickets are on sale now at OtterAthletics.com/tickets. Fan who can't make the game can watch live locally on Ch. 73.1 or online on the CCAA Network.com. Greg Pool will have the call starting with the pregame show at 6:50 p.m.
