Otters Stay Unbeaten With Scoreless Road Draw

Alyssa Noh earns her 10th career shutout with tie at Dominican

SAN RAFAEL, Calif. — Cal State Monterey Bay women's soccer remains unbeaten after playing to a scoreless draw Monday evening at Dominican University. The Otters continue the best start in program history with a 4–0–1 record. Dominican moved to 2–1–1 overall.

Junior goalkeeper Alyssa Noh (Aliso Niguel HS) made four saves while picking up her second shutout of the season, lowering her goals against average to 0.37 in the process.

Although the teams played end–to–end, they combined for just 21 shots (10 for CSUMB) and only nine shots on goal (five for CSUMB). Although called to action four times, Noh was tested only twice. She had to dive to her left to make a smart stop on Kaitlyn Haub's shot from distance in the 14th minute before having to leap to control a long entry lob that bounced high off the Kennelly Field turf late in the second half.

Noh's counterpart, Alyssa Ramos, was credited with five saves. Twice she had to come out and bravely challenge one–on–one situations, barely beating Otter forwards to the ball on both occasions to keep the game scoreless

THE MATCH WAS OVER WHEN… Monica Hrncir broke through in the final minute of overtime but Alyssa Ramos challenged to force the ball wide. It proved to be the final offensive opportunity for either side.

KEEP IT CLEAN… Alyssa Noh posted her 10th career shutout with Monday's clean sheet at Dominican. She needs one more to tie the school record of 11 set by Melissa Moen from 2002–05.

MOVIN' ON UP… With four saves Monday at Dominican, Alyssa Noh passed Victoria Whyte (2015–18) for the No. 4 spot on the Otter career saves list with 118. She needs 18 more to pass Graciela Holguin (135 from 2008–10) for third place.

LEADERS OF THE RAFT… GOALS: None; ASSISTS: None; POINTS: None; SHOTS: Allexxis Hand/Jasmine Safarians 3; SAVES: Alyssa Noh 4.

THE LAST WORD… "We played through a lot of physical play today and ended up getting a point on the road. It wasn't the result we hoped for, but credit to Dominican for making it tough for a soccer game to break out. They were organized defensively." – CSUMB Head Coach Laura VanWart

THEY'VE GOT NEXT… The Otters return home to close the nonconference portion of their schedule by hosting Southwest Oklahoma State Friday (Sept. 20) for a 3 p.m. kickoff. Tickets may be purchased in advance at OtterAthletics.com/Tickets.
