It’s Broncos Who Shine In First Otter Baseball Night Game

First home night game goes again CSUMB by 15–5 count

SEASIDE, Calif. — Cal State Monterey Bay played the first night home game in school history Friday night, but it was visiting Cal Poly Pomona that shined in this one, take the series opener 15–5 at the Otter Sports Complex.

A trio of Otter pitchers couldn't slow Pomona. Junior Jacob Ahid (Hilmar HS) finally shut the door by fanning three in 1 2/3 inning of scoreless relief. By then, however, the damage had been done.

CSUMB kept things interesting early as a solo shot from Connor Caspersen (Amador Valley HS/Mission College) and a 2–run blast by Mason Allen (Oakmont HS) kept the Otters close through five. But the Broncos scored eight runs over the next three innings to put the game away.

SAVING THE BEST FOR LAST… CSUMB's late inning offense continued to produce with a ninth–inning run Friday night. From the eighth inning on, the Otters are out–scoring their opponents 42–20 this season.

THE HITS JUST KEEP ON COMING… Junior right fielder Kyle Dean ran his streak of reaching base safely to a team season-high 26 games Friday. Dean went 1–for–1 with a triple a pair of walks.
