SAN MARCOS, Calif. — Cal State Monterey Bay women's soccer suffered a tough–luck loss, this time in the form of a 1–0 setback at Cal State San Marcos Sunday afternoon at The Cage.

The lone goal came off a San Marcos corner in the 22nd minute when Amy Wilson headed home from close range.

The match was a defensive struggle for the full 90 minutes, especially after the Cougars scored. Following the goal, the teams combined to take just five shots over the final 68 minutes.

Sahana Bojorquez (Las Vegas, Nev./Spring Valley HS) took two of CSUMB's four shots. Stephanie Busch (Santa Cruz HS) made three saves.

THE MATCH WAS OVER WHEN… San Marcos successfully defended a 35–yard free kick by Sahana Bojorquez inside the final 10 seconds of regulation.

PLAYING IT CLOSE TO THE VEST, PART I… Sunday's match was the fourth 1–0 decision in five outings this season for CSUMB women's soccer. The Otters are 2–2 in those matches.

PLAYING IT CLOSE TO THE VEST, PART II… Dating back to last season, seven of the last 10 Otter matches have ended either 1–0 or 0–0.

HOME SWEET HOME… The Otters opened the season by playing five of their first six contests on the road. They'll finally return to the Otter Sports Complex for two matches next week where they are 1–0 on the season.
