LA JOLLA, Calif. — UC San Diego looked every bit the the nation's No. 2 ranked team Friday night as the defending CCAA champion scored three goals in the first half and looked back only briefly in a 6–1 CCAA–opening win over Cal State Monterey Bay at the Triton Soccer Stadium.
CSUMB pulled one goal back early in the second half on a brilliant free kick by
Sahana Bojorquez (Las Vegas, Nev./Spring Valley HS). But UCSD responded with a free kick goal of its own less than a minute later to regain control.
THE MATCH WAS OVER WHEN… Megumi Barber followed a
Sahana Bojorquez free kick goal in the 48th minute with one of her own 48 seconds later to put UCSD on top 4–1.

Sahana Bojorquez joined
Madison Aguirre and
Sierra Levy on the Otter scoring ledger with her strike Friday night.
SIX OF A KIND… The Otters allowed six goals in a match for the first time since an 8–0 loss to Chico State on Sept. 7, 2007. That's a span of 202 matches.
