SAN FRANCISCO — Turnabout was fair play for the Cal State Monterey Bay women's basketball team, which avenged a lopsided loss to San Francisco State in December with a 73–47 rout of their own Saturday night in The Swamp.
A season–high 11 players scored for Otters Saturday night, led by
Christine Golfo (Logan HS/San Jose CC) and
Emily Hardin (Monache HS/New Mexico State) who scored 15 points each. Hardin's 15 points were a career high.
The Otters ran away with this one during a second quarter in which they out–scored SFSU 19–2. CSUMB poured kerosene on the fire from that point, expanding its leading to as many as 38 points at 63–25 before the Gators made a late run against the Otter reserves.
In addition to Golfo and Hardin,
Courtney Keaton (Bishop Montgomery HS) recorded her sixth double–double of the season with 10 points and 11 rebounds in just 20 minutes of work.
Jessie Evans (Arnold/Harte HS) chipped in a season–high 11 points.
THE GAME WAS STATISTICALLY OVER WHEN… Camille Parker rebounded the miss of a short Kayleigh Pugh jumper with 3:38 remaining in the third quarter.
AN HISTORIC WIN… CSUMB's 26–point margin of victory matched its third largest road win as an NCAA Division II institution. It was the biggest Otter road win since a 52–21 win at Cal State East Bay on Feb. 5, 2011.
ON THE REBOUND… Led by
Courtney Keaton's ninth double figure rebounding game of the season (11 boards), CSUMB out–rebounded the Gators 43–25. That's its largest rebounding edge of 2017–18.

THE LAST WORD… "Our focus was to put together two good halves tonight. Every time they made a little run we were able to get stops and scores to counter them. We kept our intensity up the entire game which was a good improvement for us." –
CSUMB Head Coach Kerri Nakamoto
THEY'VE GOT NEXT… The Otters return to The Kelp Bed to host a pair of games next weekend, beginning with a Friday (Jan. 26) tilt against Cal State San Bernardino. The CCAA double begins with a women's tip-off at 5:30 p.m. The men will tip-off at 7:30 p.m.
GO OTTERS!
