SEASIDE, Calif. — For the second consecutive night a second half slowdown proved costly as the Cal state Monterey Bay men's basketball team saw San Francisco State pull away after intermission to win 79–65 Saturday night in The Swamp.
CSUMB got a 15–point, 10–rebound double–double from
Mateo Jones (Victorville/Silverado HS) and 13 points from
Jahvon Johnson (Clovis North HS). But neither was enough to overcome a second half in which the Otters shot just 37 percent from the floor (11-of-30).
The game remained close until the Gators used a 22–8 run midway through the second half to turn a 46–43 lead into a 68–51 advantage. The Otters were never able to get closer than 12 points the rest of the way.
THE GAME WAS STATISTICALLY OVER WHEN… A Jason Wickliffe jumper made it 76–60 SFSU with 2:36 remaining.
A HANDFUL OF DOUBLE–DOUBLES… Mateo Jones earned his fifth double–double of the season with 15 points and 10 rebounds Saturday at San Francisco State. He becomes the first Otters to post five double–doubles in one season since Joe Mitchell had 10 during the 2008–09 campaign.

Next up is the 2015–16 team that made 204 treys. The all–time record is held by the 1998–99 squad that made 245 in 31 games.
