GOLDEN, Colo. -- Cameron DeJong (Ventura HS) and
Makenna Pendleton (Archbishop Mitty) scored their first goals of the season, however, the Cal State Monterey Bay men's soccer team could not keep Colorado School of Mines off the scoreboard as the Otters fell in their first of two games in Colorado on Friday night, 4-2.
CSUMB got both goals in the second half after being held scoreless in the first 45 minutes. DeJong got his first goal of 2017 on a cross from
Darren Sinclair (Santa Teresa HS) in which he collected in the middle of the box and fired passed the Oredigger goalkeeper to make it 2-1 in the second half. School of Mines bounced back to get the game back to a 2-goal difference 15 minutes later at 3-1.
Pendleton netted the first goal of his collegiate career in the 80th minute to bring the score to 3-2 on a scorcher from the top of the arch to bring CSUMB within one goal at 3-2. However, the Orediggers answered right back once again 56 seconds later give the hosts a 4-2 lead; the eventual final score.

THE GAME WAS OVER WHEN... CSM's John Haist netted his third goal of the match to bring the score to 4-2 with 9:36 remaining in the game.
FIRST!... As mentioned above, the freshman from San Jose,
Makenna Pendleton, netted his first score of his collegiate career in the 80th minute of Friday night's game.
