SEASIDE, Calif. -- Sunday brought the series finalé vs Cal Poly Pomona as the Cal State Monterey Bay baseball team looked for a series sweep over the Broncos. However, CPP had other ideas as they jumped on Otter starting pitching to take a 2-0 lead after the first inning that set the tone for the eventual 11-8 Otter loss.
The Broncos plated six runs in the fourth inning to capture a 8-1 lead over the hosts before plating two more runs in the eighth inning to take a 10-1 lead. The Otters did not back down as they touched up the Bronco bullpen for five runs in the eighth inning cutting the deficit to four runs at 10-6. Pomona answered with a run the top of the ninth to extend the lead to comfortable five runs.
Against the Pomona closer, Ryan Alsworth, the Otters were able to plate two runs in the ninth to get the hole to three runs, but Alsworth was able to shut the door on the comeback and secure the Otter loss.
