SAN FRANCISCO — No. 10 ranked Cal State Monterey Bay took care of business twice Friday afternoon, sweeping a doubleheader from San Francisco State 8–0 (5 inn.) and 5–4 at the SFSU Softball Field.
Freshman pitcher
Hayley Fein (Sparks, Nev./Spanish Springs HS) earned both wins to improve to 23–6 on the season. She tossed a 4–hit shutout—her eighth of the season—to win the opener before throwing 3 1/3 innings of 1–hit relief to close the nightcap.
CSUMB scored eight runs on 14 singles in Game 1, with a couple of key Gator errors helping along the way. SFSU scrapped its way to a 3–1 lead through four innings of Game 2 before
Julia Garcia (Ventura College) knocked her 12th home run of the season off the scoreboard to put the Otters on top to stay in the fifth.
Senior designated player
