Help CSUMB Associated Students, SAAC End Hunger

Food drive to benefit Otter Food Pantry, Food Bank For Monterey County on now

Canned Food Drive

S.A.A.C | February 08, 2017

SEASIDE, Calif. — The Cal State Monterey Bay Student–Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) is holding a food drive to support the CSUMB Associated Students Food Pantry. CSUMB's Food Pantry assists students who suffer from food insecurity (defined as those without access to a sufficient quantity of affordable, nutritious food).

Your support will help provide a meal for a less fortunate person directly connected to CSUMB. Donations also help the CSUMB SAAC, Associated Students and the Food Bank for Monterey County raise awareness and knowledge of this issue.

Fans who bring a non-perishable food item to this weekend's baseball and softball games will receive one free admission to that game for each item. Fans who bring items to Friday and Saturday's men's and women's basketball games will receive $5 off* admission for each item. (*no cash value)
  • M/W Basketball vs. San Francisco State (The Kelp Bed): Friday, February 10 (5:30 & 7:30 p.m.)
  • M/W Basketball vs. Sonoma State (The Kelp Bed): Saturday, February 11 (5:30 & 7:30 p.m.)
  • Softball vs. Sonoma State (Otter Sports Complex): Saturday–Sunday, February 11–12 (noon)
  • Baseball vs. Concordia–Portland (Otter Sports Complex): Saturday–Sunda, February 11–12 (11 a.m.)

In addition to the Otter games, bins will be place at designated locations during the week of February 6–12. Additional locations include:
  • Athletic Department (Building 84F)
  • Student Center Lobby (Building 12)
  • Otter Sports Center Lobby (Building 90)
  • Dining Commons (Building 16)
  • Tanimura & Antle Family Memorial Library

Your support will help provide a meal for a less fortunate person directly connected to CSUMB by supporting our Campus Food Pantry. Donations also help SAAC and the Food Bank for Monterey County raise awareness and knowledge of this issue.

The CSUMB Food Drive is part of a larger program throughout the month of February, where the SAACs on each CCAA Campus will be holding food drives to support a local food bank. The purpose of the CCAA/SAAC Food Drive is to collect packaged goods in the fight against hunger and raise awareness to the prevalence of hunger in our communities.

In addition to this drive anyone can donate online at the Food Bank of Monterey County site. Be sure to note that the donation is in honor of CSUMB SAAC (address: 100 Campus Center, Seaside, CA 93955).
