Price Double-Double Not Enough vs. Penguins

Jordan Price records first collegiate double-double in 77-64 loss to Dominican

SEASIDE, Calif. — Junior guard Jordana Price (Seattle/Inglemoor HS) posted the first double–double of her career, but it wasn't enough to stop visiting Dominican University from taking a 77–64 decision from Cal State Monterey Bay Wednesday afternoon in The Kelp Bed.

Price finished with 12 points and 12 rebounds—both career highs—while adding the first two blocked shots of her career. But Domincan got 28 points and 12 rebounds from Sandra Ikeora and 26 points and 14 boards from Natalie Diaz to out–dual Price.

CSUMB led 19–18 after the first quarter, but Dominican eased away over the next two periods, taking a 43–34 lead into the half and a 64–50 lead into the fourth quarter. The Otters couldn't pull closer than 11 the rest of the way.

THE GAME WAS STATISTICALLY OVER WHEN… Julia Razzo made the first of two free throws to give the Penguins a 74–58 lead with 2:19 remaining.

WELCOME TO THE CLUB… With her 12–point, 12–rebound double–double Wednesday afternoon, Jordana Price becomes the fourth member of the 2017–18 Otter roster to record a double–double and the second Otter to do so this season. Alexa Sperling and Aubri Smith both have career double–doubles. Courtney Keaton also had a 10–point, 16–rebound game in a win over Academy of Art on Nov. 14.

NOTHING GOLD CAN STAY… Aubri Smith will have to settle for a share of the Otter record for consecutive 20–point games (4) when her streak snapped Wednesday afternoon. Dominican limited her to eight points, although Smith did lead both teams with four assists and five steals.

ON THE REBOUND… Despite the monster games from Dominican's big forwards, the Otters out–rebounded Dominican 46–45 Wednesday afternoon. It marked the first time this season the Otters have been on the plus side of the rebounding ledger.

LEADERS OF THE RAFT… POINTS: Alexa Sperling 14; REBOUNDS: Jordana Price 12; ASSISTS: Aubri Smith 4; BLOCKS: Jordana Price 2; STEALS: Aubri Smith 5.

THEY'VE GOT NEXT… The Otters will play their first CCAA home game of the year when they host Sonoma State Saturday (Nov. 25). Tip-off will be at 5:30 p.m. as the opener of men's/women's doubleheader action.
