Game Recap: Women's Soccer | | Corey Neal (@CoreyN3al)

Offense Quiet in 2-0 Loss to Gators

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. -- The Cal State Monterey Bay women's soccer team struggled to find the back of the net despite five shots on goal on eight attempts. However, San Francisco State was able to convert twice handing CSUMB a 2-0 loss on Sunday afternoon at Cox Stadium.

The Gators got on the scoreboard at the 15:04 mark on the fifth goal of the season by Tami Kwong. Fifty minutes later Laura Shea scored her fifth of the season to give SF State a 2-0 lead. After taking seven shots in the first half, the Otters took one in the second half in the loss.

Alyssa Noh and Victoria Whyte split time between the pipes and recorded two saves each.

THE MATCH WAS OVER WHEN... A shot by Karlee Neer sailed high as the only shot of the second half at the 56 minute mark.

ALL OR NOTHING... In all four losses this season, the Otters have failed to score a goal. Overall, CSUMB hasn't scored in six games this season including two 0-0 double overtime ties. On the other hand, in their four wins CSUMB has scored 16 goals and shut out opponents three times.

STAT PACK... SHOTS: Miranda Rudolph -- 2; SHOTS ON GOAL: Rudolph -- 2; SAVES: Whyte, Noh -- 2

THE FINAL WORD... "It was a tough loss today. The first half SF State had us on our heels to start. Once we adjusted we got quite a few chances and were unlucky to go into the second half without a goal. We couldn't find out rhythm in the second half. I was largely to blame for making too many changes. We are back at home this weekend and I plan to get the team back to doing what makes us successful." -Head Coach Laura VanWart

THEY'VE GOT NEXT... Monterey Bay returns home on Friday, October 6 to face Cal State L.A. Kickoff is set for 12:30 p.m.
