SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. -- The Cal State Monterey Bay men's soccer team looked for its second CCAA win in a row on Sunday at San Francisco State, but saw two first half goals go against them en route to a 2-1 loss to the Gators at Cox Field.
The Gators Richard Leon got the Gators on the board at the 21 minute mark in the first half for his fifth goal of the season to put the hosts up 1-0. Seventeen minutes later, Ayden Bowers put SFSU up 2-0 in the first half with his first goal off the season.
Makenna Pendleton got CSUMB a goal in the second half on a free kick laser that was near midfield. However, Pendleton's score would not be enough for a second half comeback in the 2-1 loss.
Goalkeeper
Jesus Ochoa recorded three saves on Sunday. CSUMB is now 2-8, 1-5 CCAA.

THE MATCH WAS OVER WHEN... Luis Lopez took the final shot of the game for CSUMB that went off the post at the 76:30 mark.
TAKE IT, IT'S FREE... Two of Pendleton's three goals this season have come off of lengthy free kicks. Including today's strike that was closer to midfield than the goal, Pendelton nailed a strike against Colorado School of Mines from the top of the arc.
STAT PACK... GOALS: Makenna Pendleton -- 3 (73:14) unassisted, free kick;
SHOTS: Pendleton -- 3;
SHOTS ON GOAL: Pendleton -- 2;
SAVES: Ochoa -- 3.
THE FINAL WORD... "I thought we weren't firing on all cylinders in the first half. We freshened up the team in the second half, scored a great goal and were very unlucky not to equalize when Luis' shot hit the post."
Head Coach Shane Carew
THEY'VE GOT NEXT... Monterey Bay will play at home for the first time in two weeks on Friday, October 6 when Cal State L.A. comes to town. Kickoff is set for 3:00 p.m.
