AZUSA, Calif. — The Cal State Monterey Bay women's soccer team got its chance to play under the lights on Thursday night against Azusa Pacific. Going into the game, the Otters carried an unblemished 2-0 record and a No. 10 ranking in the first NSCAA West Region Poll. On the other hand, the Cougar offense had been held scoreless for the first two games of 2016
However, the Cougar offensive slump did not carry into their third game of the year as APU erupted for four goals, including three in the first half handing CSUMB a 4-0 loss.
The loss is CSUMB's first of the season as they move to 2-1 overall.
THE GAME WAS OVER WHEN... The Cougar's Hayley Williamson netted the fourth goal of the game in the 59th minute
THE AGONY OF DEFEAT... Although it was their first loss of the season, it was the Otters' worst loss since falling to Sonoma State, 4-0, in September of 2013
A CAREER FIRST... Freshman
Sahana Bojorquez (Spring Valley HS) appeared in his first collegiate game and took her first career shot as an Otter
THEY'VE GOT NEXT... The Otters will remain on the road, but now in the conference setting. Cal State Monterey Bay will battle the Gators of San Francisco State on Wednesday, September 14 at 3:00 p.m. in S.F.
GO OTTERS!
