LOS ANGELES, Calif. — The Cal State Monterey Bay men's soccer ran into a buzz saw on Friday evening in Cal State L.A. CSUMB gave up early goals to start both the first and second halves while firing five shots as a team against the tough Golden Eagle defense.
Michael Maul (San Ramon Valley HS) was the bright spot for CSUMB. The sophomore found the back of the net in the 75th minute to narrow the CSULA lead to 3-1.
However, that score would remain for the rest of the game giving CSUMB a 3-1 loss.
THE GAME WAS OVER WHEN... Maul scored for the Otters in the 75th minute, but the game was over when
Osvaldo Espinoza (Oxnard College) took the Otters final shot at the 88:38 mark.
ROUGH ROAD... The Otters are now 0-2-1 in their last three road games. It doesn't get any easier on Sunday as CSUMB faces the 6-2-1, 3-0-0 CCAA Cal State Dominguez Hills Toros
THE LAST WORD... Can't come out flat against a quality team like LA. We did that and they punished us for it. We woke up late in the game. We will look to regroup on Sunday.
–Rob Cummings, Men's Soccer Head Coach
THEY'VE GOT NEXT... CSUMB will travel to Cal State Dominguez Hills for a date with the Toros on Sunday. Kickoff is set for 11:30 a.m.
GO OTTERS!
