HAYWARD, Calif. -- The Cal State Monterey Bay women's basketball team traveled to Cal State East Bay on Saturday night for the 2015–16 season finalé. Unfortunately, the Otters were no match for the CCAA playoff bound Pioneers, falling 44–69
After scoring 10 points in the first quarter the Otters trailed by eight heading into the second period. CSUMB was able to get within six points, but could not close the gap further as they went into halftime with a 10 point deficit.
The Pioneers got off to a quick start in the third quarter, building a 17 point lead to open the half. However, the Otters began to chip away closing the gap to a four–point hole with 3:31 remaining in the quarter. The Otters could not get over the hump, however, as Cal State East Bay was able to extend its lead back to as many as 27 points en route to the 25–point win.
McKenna Hill (Ventura, Calif. / Saint Bonaventure HS) was the only scorer in double figures with 17 points going 6–of–11 from the field. The junior also led CSUMB with seven rebounds. The Pioneers had four players in double figures led by Laci Effenberger with 16.
Monterey Bay finishes the 2015–16 season with a record of 9–18, 5–15 CCAA.
