Seesaw Contest Ends in OT Win for Otters

Dorn, Hill score 18; Keaton hits clutch free throws

SEASIDE, Calif. -- It was a back–and–forth contest between the Cal State Monterey Bay women's basketball team and Cal State L.A. on Friday night in the Kelp Bed that needed to be decided in overtime. Courtney Keaton (Los Angeles, Calif. / Bishop Montgomery HS) hit two clutch free throws and grabbed a big offensive rebound late in OT, helping CSUMB grab a 75–70 win.

CSUMB kicked things with their second highest first quarter point total, jumping out to a 21–12 lead. The Golden Eagles countered with a 20 point second quarter, however the Otters led at intermission 39–32.

Cal State L.A. outscored CSUMB in a sluggish third quarter as CSULA closed in one the Otter lead. CSUMB got out to a five point lead a 50–45 to start the fourth quarter, but saw the lead disappear three minutes later. CSULA captured its first lead since the first quarter at 52–50. Four ties and two lead changes in the quarter forced overtime at 61–61, the first OT for the Otters since Nov. 24, 2015.

Cal State L.A. led by as many as four points at 68–64, but big shots by Victoria Dorn (Marina, Calif. / Seaside HS) and McKenna Hill (Ventura, Calif. / Saint Bonaventure HS) got the Otters on a 6–2 run to close out the game and win 75–70.

In addition to Dorn and Hill's 18 points, Stephanie Sack (Petaluma, Calif. / Casa Grande HS) contributed 16 points. Keaton led the team with eight rebounds. CSULA's Bree Parsons led all scorers with 21 points.

Monterey Bay will it's final home game on Saturday night against Cal State Dominguez Hills. Tipoff is set for 5:30 p.m.
