SEASIDE, Calif. — For the first time in two weeks the Cal State Monterey Bay women's soccer team came back to the Otter Sports Complex in hopes of keeping its unblemished home record of 3-0. However, Cal State San Marcos had other ideas.
Ashlee Cortez (Trabuco HS) netted her third score of the season for CSUMB at the 4:12 mark of the first half, giving CSUMB an early 1-0 lead.
From then on, it was all Cougars as the visitors rallied for three straight goals. CSUSM scored twice in the first half and once in the second half to seal the deal in the Otters 3-1 loss.
THE GAME WAS OVER WHEN... CSUMB was down just one goal for a majority of the second half, but Yeya Millan's goal in the 81st minute stretched the Cougar lead to 3-1.
SHOT LEADER... Taylor Greenwood (Norco HS) led the Otters off the bench with four shots, three of which were on target.
LEADER OF THE RAFT... Cortez now has three goals on the season, good for the team lead through 11 games
THEY'VE GOT NEXT... Cal State Monterey Bay will face off against UC San Diego on Sunday. Kickoff is set for 11:30 a.m. at the OSC
