POSTMATCH REACTION AND HIGHLIGHTS vs. UCSD
SEASIDE, Calif. — Friday night's marathon versus San Marcos took its toll on the Cal State Monterey Bay volleyball team Saturday night as the Otters hit a wall midway through the match, allowing UC San Diego to rally for a 18–25, 25–22, 25–15, 25–12 win in The Kelp Bed.
CSUMB (7–6, 2–4 CCAA) led for virtually the entire first set before playing through 12 ties and five lead changes in a taut second set. But UCSD (8–5, 5–0) forged a late lead to even the match before pulling away midway through the third set to take control.
Maddy Underwood (Spokane, Wash./Mead HS) and
Anela Visesio (Seaside HS) led a balanced Otter offense with nine kills apiece. Underwood added 10 digs and a match–high four aces.
THE MATCH WAS OVER WHEN… Jessyka Beksa's kill broke a 9–9 tie in the third set. The Tritons never trailed again, out–scoring CSUMB 41–18 over the balance of the match.

SHE ACES… Maddy Underwood continues to tear it up at the service line. She matched her career high with four aces Saturday night, giving her a team–leading 22 for the season. That total ranks No. 2 in the CCAA.

THEY'VE GOT NEXT… The Otters hit the road for a pair in Southern California next weekend, beginning Friday, Oct. 7 at Cal State L.A. CSUMB returns home to host CCAA North Division leader Humboldt State Oct. 11.
