SEASIDE, Calif. — For the third consecutive season, Cal State Monterey Bay softball star
Cori Reinhardt (Riverside Poly) has earned a spot on the Capital One Academic All–District VIII team as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Reinhardt becomes the second Otter to 3-peat in this award this season, joining volleyball great
Julia Ashen (North Salinas HS) on the podium for the third time.
As a first team all-district selection, Reinhardt will move on to the national Academic All-America
® ballot. Those teams will be announced later this month.
Reinhardt's 2015 trophy case is already getting crowded. Last week, she became the first softball player in CCAA history to be named both the league's pitcher and player of the Year in the same season. It was her second consecutive player of the year nod and her first as a pitcher. She also earned all three victories in leading the Otters to their second CCAA Tournament title and first since 2009.
Reinhardt will lead the Otters into this weekend's NCAA Softball West Regional as the tournament's No. 1 seed. She leads the Otter pitching staff with a 30-2 record and a 1.63 ERA. At the plate, she owns a .420 batting average with 49 runs scored and 40 RBIs.
CSUMB (47-10 overall) will open regional play Friday by hosting No. 8 seed Montana Stater Billings (29-21) at 2:30 p.m.
GO OTTERS!
