2015 CSUMB NFCA All-Region 1st Team

Softball | May 14, 2015

SEASIDE, Calif. — First team selections Madison Casto (Sunnyvale/Homestead HS), Bianca Noriega (Ventura/Camarillo HS) and Cori Reinhardt (Riverside Poly) led a quartet of Cal State Monterey Bay softball players named NCAA Division II All-West Region by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association Thursday afternoon. Senior third baseman Alissa Greenhaw (Galt/Cosumnes River College) joined them as a second team selection.

Earlier this week, that quartet, along with sophomore center fielder Anneliese Lopez (Ventura/Buena HS) earned Daktronics All-West Region honors as selected by the NCAA Division II sports information directors.

Reinhardt, already a 3-time All–American, advances to the national ballot for All–America consideration along with Casto and Noriega.
Reinhardt ended her final collegiate campaign with a 30-4 mark and a 1.81 ERA. The 30 wins were a school season record while her 1.81 ERA ranks No. 4 in school history. Her 86 career wins also are a CSUMB record and rank No. 7 on the CCAA all-time list.

As good as she has been as a pitcher, she's been even better as a hitter. She finished 2015 with a .417 batting average, the third time in her collegiate career she hit better than .400. Her career batting average of .409 ranks No. 5 in CCAA history. She finishes her collegiate career ranked among the CCAA all-time leader in hits (No. 10, 260), doubles (No. 4, 54), on-base percentage (No. 4, .494), RBIs (No. 3, 168) and walks (No. 5, 108).

For her part, Casto led the Otters with a .444 batting average in 2015. She added 21 doubles, eight home runs and 51 RBIs. Noriega, meanwhile, hit .411 while leading the team with nine homers and 53 RBIs. She also becomes the first player in school history to record 50 or more RBIs in a season twice. She drove in 52 in 2014.

Greenhaw earned second team recognition for combining excellent defense with impressive offensive numbers. She hit a career-high .391 with 51 runs, six homers and 42 RBIs in her final collegiate campaign.

CSUMB concluded the second winningest season in school history (47-12 overall) by hosting the NCAA West Regional for the second consecutive season last weekend.
