SEASIDE, Calif. — Not only does the Cal State Monterey Bay softball team rank No. 3 nationally in the latest
NFCA Top 25 poll, it also checks in among the top five in the nation in a pair of key statistical categories in the latest NCAA Division II national statistics.
The Otters currently rank No. 2 in fielding percentage (.983) and No. 5 in batting average (.380). CSUMB (22–3 overall) also checks in at No. 5 in on base percentage (.465), No. 6 in doubles per game (2.28) and No. 7 in win-loss percentage (.880).
All of those numbers lead the CCAA and the West Region as well.
Junior
Lindsey Clarkson (Fresno/Central HS) owns the highest individual ranking by an Otter, holding the No. 8 spot in shutouts with four.
Cori Reinhardt (Riverside Poly) ranks No. 10 in sac flies (3), No. 11 in doubles per game (0.56) and No. 12 in wins (13).
The Otters (22–3, 13–3 CCAA) will look to protect their standing atop the CCAA this weekend when they travel to Chico for a 4–game set at Chico State (13–7, 10–6). The Wildcats begin the weekend three games behind CSUMB.
CSUMB returns home to host West Region rival Central Washington for a nonconference doubleheader on Mar. 25 before heading to Turlock for the Tournament of Champions Presented by the Turlock Convention and Visitor's Bureau Mar. 27-29.
