LA JOLLA, Calif. -- For the first time in two weeks, the Cal State Monterey Bay women's soccer team hit the road. On Friday evening they faced a UC San Diego team that the program had never beaten.
After a scoreless first half, the Tritons broke it up with the first goal of the game. With seven minutes remaining in the game, the Otters cracked their scoring drought when
Regan Porteous (Lodi, Calif./St. Mary's HS) slotted one into left corner net to knot the score at 1–1.
The score would hold at the score for both overtime periods, leading to the first ever tie against the Tritons. Freshman goalkeeper
Victoria Whyte (Austin, Texas/Lake Travis HS) played all 110 minutes and contributed five saves.
Kristen Womack (Roseville, Calif./Woodcreek HS) took a total of five shots, while Porteous had four, totaling nine of the Otters 12 shots.
The Otters move to a 3-8-1, 0-5-1 CCAA record. Monterey Bay will face Cal State San Marcos on Sunday at 11:30 a.m.
