SEASIDE, Calif. -- The Cal State Monterey Bay Men's Soccer team pitched a shutout on Friday afternoon in the 2-0 victory over Humboldt State at the Otter Sports Complex, giving the program its best conference start since joining the CCAA in 2004.
CSUMB scored early on a header by
Rudy Gonzalez (Bakersfield, Calif./Independence HS) staking a 1-0 lead for the Otters. All was quiet until the 86th minute when a foul in the box led to CSUMB's second penalty kick in as many games.
Alejandro Garcia (Oxnard, Calif./Hueneme HS) converted on this one to give him his team leading third goal and a 2-0 win for CSUMB.

Evan Drake (Sacramento, Calif./El Camino HS) set a career record for most shutouts with 12. He also recorded four saves in the win.
CSUMB continues its hot start and moves to 6-2, 3-1 CCAA. Monterey Bay will host Sonoma State on Sunday. Kick off is set for 2:00 p.m.
