Carson, Calif. — The Cal State Monterey Bay Men's Soccer battled for 92 minutes ony to be devistated two minutes into overtime when Cal State Dominguez Hills netted the winning goal giving the Otters a tough 2-1 loss on University Field in Carson, Calif. Sunday afternoon. After the overtime loss, the Otters drop to 2–6–3, 1–4–1 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association, while CSUDH moves to 6–6–1, 4–2–0 in conference play.
The Toros waited until right before half time to score the first goal of the match, taking a 1-0 in to the break. The Otters fought back in the second half when in the 72' Jovani Delacruz (Los Banos, Calif./Los Banos HS) put his first goal of the season into the back of the net, knotting the score at 1–1. The tie stuck until the end of regulation, sending the game into overtime.
"I thought the boys played well today, " said head coach Rob Cummings (@RobCummings3), "give [Cal State] Dominguez Hills credit, they got the result, but [the coaching staff] is proud how the boys played, it was a joy to see us play good soccer."
Two minutes into overtime Cal State Dominguez Hills got the hosts the win with the golden goal in the 92nd minute.
Cal State Monterey Bay takes on UC San Diego on Friday, October 17th at noon, back at the Otter Sports Complex.
