CSUMB Set For First 2013 CCAA Road Trip

Otters play Cal State East Bay Friday, Cal State Stanislaus Saturday

SEASIDE, Calif. – The Cal State Monterey Bay men's soccer team will take its 2-1-1 CCAA record on the road for the first time in 2013, traveling to Cal State East Bay and Cal State Stanislaus for a pair of conference contests this weekend.

"Being the first conference road games you always worry about making sure that the routine doesn't vary much," said CSUMB Head Coach Rob Cummings. "But we have been on the road already both for preseason and in non-conference action and we did well.

After a scrimmage at UC Santa Cruz in preseason, the Otters opened the 2013 season with a 2-1 overtime victory at Notre Dame de Namur on Sept. 5.

"We play Friday night under the lights at East Bay," Cummings said. "It's always exciting to be able to play a night game."

The Otters will face off against the Pioneers of East Bay on Friday, Sept. 27 at 7 p.m.  CSUMB has been victorious in three of the last four times these two teams have met.  On Sunday, CSUMB travels to Cal State Stanislaus for a 2 p.m. showdown.

"I think it will help that we won't be staying in hotels," Cummings said. "We will come back after East Bay and sleep in our own beds and then train Saturday at home to get ready for Stanislaus.

"These two have played some tough games and once again it will be another battle in the CCAA."
