NSCAA National Top 25 Poll

SEASIDE, Calif.
–The newly nationally-ranked Cal State Monterey Bay men's soccer team debuted at 25th in the latest National Soccer Coaches Association of American (NSCAA)/Continental Tire NCAA Division II men's national poll. This is the first time in program history the Otters have been recognized in the national poll.

The Otters also moved up two spots to No. 4 in the West NSCAA Regional poll.

"I am very proud of the team and where the program is heading," said CSUMB Head Coach Rob Cummings. "I am very humbled and honored that we are recognized as one of the top 25 teams in the nation.

"This has been something that has been in the works starting with the support of our administration, and everyone else involved with our program."

CSUMB recorded its second shutout of the season with a 1-0 victory over CCAA North Division preseason favorite Sonoma State on Sunday, Sept. 15, moving to a perfect 4-0 on the year.  Junior Alberto Anguiano's (Oxnard/Pacifica HS) game-winning goal gives him a team-high eight points with two goals and four assists.

"We are excited, but realize that it's where you end that counts.  We again have two top programs coming in," Cummings said. "First Cal State Dominguez Hills who has two national titles and lots of tradition followed by Cal State LA who is currently sitting at No. 7 in the nation."

Coach Cummings and the Otters will look to maintain their streak as they close out a five-game homestand this weekend, hosting two regionally ranked teams with Cal State Dominguez Hills on Friday at 3 p.m. and Cal State L.A. on Sunday at 2 p.m.
