Otter offense halted by the Seawolves, dropping a 4-0 contest

BOX SCORE SEASIDE, Calif. – The Cal State Monterey Bay women's soccer team couldn't take down the blazing Sonoma State Seawolves, falling 4-0 in the Sunday afternoon CCAA contest.

CSUMB drops to 2-2-0 overall and 1-1-0 in conference while Sonoma State remains perfect at 4-0-0, 2-0-0 CCAA.

The Otters held Sonoma scoreless in the first 36 minutes before Lauren Curtin scored her first of two goals of the game.

Four minutes later, Curtin was successful on a penalty kick as SSU took a 2-0 lead into the halftime break.

The Seawolves would pick up two more goals in the final 45 minute by Alicia Mertz and Gabby Squarcia.

CSUMB's best chance of the game came 34 minutes into the second half when junior midfielder Hannah Cobb (Hollister/San Benito HS) went through three Seawolf defenders before being stopped by sliding keeper Allison Hadidian.

Junior midfielder Jami Murray (Newbury/City College of San Francisco) had three of the Otters nine shots in the game. Junior keeper Kendra Gillio (San Jose/Valley Christian HS) recorded five saves.
