CHICO, Calif. — Despite a record–setting day for one Otter, the Cal State Monterey Bay softball team saw its six–game winning streak snapped as Chico State swept a doubleheader, 6–4 and 3–1, Friday after in Chico.

CSUMB All–American sophomore Cori Reinhardt (Riverside Poly) tied the CSUMB record for consecutive games reached base in the twinbill, running her streak to 34 games while finishing the day 4–for–7 with an RBI and a pair of stolen bases. It wasn't enough to deny Chico, however, as the Wildcats out–scored the Otters 10–5 Friday despite being out–hit in both games.

The afternoon started out in promising fashion after Reinhardt's RBI single and double steal worked with Vanessa Avila (Dana Point/Santiago Canyon CC) helped stake CSUMB to a 3–0 lead in the first inning of the opener. But a key error opened the floodgates on a six–run third inning by Chico that ultimately proved too tough to overcome.

Game two saw Chico grind out one run in the first and two in the second to jump to an early 3–0 lead. Otter freshman Lindsey Clarkson (Fresno/Central HS) one–hit the Wildcats the rest of the way, but the Otters couldn't break through until Lauren Ermitano's (Hayward/Ohlone College) one–out, bases–loaded single in the seventh.

The Otters left the bases loaded in the seventh and stranded 11 total base runners in the game.

In addition to Reinhardt, Skyler Valdivia (Beaumont HS) ran her current hitting streak to eight games, finishing the doubleheader 3–for–7. Angelina Orozco (Clovis East HS) had two hits in each game along with a double and her eighth stolen base of the season.

CSUMB (18–15, 11–11 CCAA) will look to bounce back when it meets Chico (17–10, 15–7) for another doubleheader Saturday at noon.
