SEASIDE, Calif. — Four the fourth time in its five CCAA doubleheaders, the Cal State Monterey Bay softball team settled for a split, this time dividing a pair with visiting UC San Diego in a 2–1 win and 3–1 loss Friday afternoon at the Otter sports Complex.
Sophomore
Cori Reinhardt (Riverside Poly) led the way once again for CSUMB (11–8, 6–4 CCAA). She fanned seven and allowed just one unearned run to pick up her sixth victory of the season in the opener. At the plate, she finished the day 4–for–7 with an RBI triple.
Kayla Hensel came on in relief of starter Jennifer Manuel for UCSD in game two and tossed three innings of hitless relief to earn her first save and help the Tritons earn the split.
In addition to Reinhardt, junior second baseman
Vanessa Avila (Dana Point/Santiago Canyon HS) hit safely in both games, finishing 3–for–7. Junior shortstop
Mariah Nisbet (San Ramon/Ohlone College) added a pair of hits in the nightcap.
