SEASIDE, Calif. — Four the fourth time in its five CCAA doubleheaders, the Cal State Monterey Bay softball team settled for a split, this time dividing a pair with visiting UC San Diego in a 2–1 win and 3–1 loss Friday afternoon at the Otter sports Complex.

Sophomore Cori Reinhardt (Riverside Poly) led the way once again for CSUMB (11–8, 6–4 CCAA). She fanned seven and allowed just one unearned run to pick up her sixth victory of the season in the opener. At the plate, she finished the day 4–for–7 with an RBI triple.

Kayla Hensel came on in relief of starter Jennifer Manuel for UCSD in game two and tossed three innings of hitless relief to earn her first save and help the Tritons earn the split.

In addition to Reinhardt, junior second baseman Vanessa Avila (Dana Point/Santiago Canyon HS) hit safely in both games, finishing 3–for–7. Junior shortstop Mariah Nisbet (San Ramon/Ohlone College) added a pair of hits in the nightcap.

Center fielder Taylor Sepulveda was the only player to hit safely in both games for UCSD (10–10, 6–4), collecting two hits in both ends of the doubleheader.

The Otters and Tritons will conclude their four–game series with a doubleheader Sunday. First pitch of game one is set for 11 a.m.
