TURLOCK, Calif. — The No. 17 Cal State Monterey Bay softball team couldn't find its footing all day, struggling at the plate and in the field while dropping its opening three games at the Best of the West Invitational Saturday at Pedretti Park.
CSUMB fell to San Francisco State 9–1 (5 inn.), Dominican University 5–4 and No. 11 Cal State Dominguez Hills 4–0.
In a strange quirk befitting Saturday's results, the Otters allowed more runs than hits in all three games.
Sophomore All–American
Cori Reinhardt (Riverside Poly) led the Otters both at the plate and in the circle. She went 6–for–9 at the plate and threw a three hitter, allowing no earned runs in the loss to Dominguez Hills.
CSUMB will conclude play at the BWI Sunday with games against NAIA power Cal State San Marcos and PacWest Conference foe Holy Names University.
GO OTTERS!
