Late Goal Hurts Otters, Fall 1-0 To CSUSB

CSUMB tallied a 14-9 shot advantage over the Coyotes

BOX SCORE SEASIDE, Calif. – The Cal State Monterey Bay women's soccer team fell to Cal State San Bernardino 1-0 on Kiana Quarles' goal in the 80th minute Sunday afternoon at the Otter Sports Complex.
 
With the loss, CSUMB drops to 4-5-1 overall and 3-4-1 in conference action while the Coyotes remain on top of the CCAA South Division standings at 6-1-1 (8-2-1 overall).
 
The Otters had an opportunity to take the lead 10 minutes prior to CSUSB's goal when Hannah Cobb's (Hollister/San Benito HS) shot from 25 yards out caromed off the crossbar as the game stayed scoreless.
 
Quarles' goal came on short passes from Jasmine Williams and Kelley Keyes that she finished with a shot just inside the near post.
 
Despite have a 14-9 shot advantage, keeper Lily Garza (Redwood City/City College of San Francisco) only recorded one save while Coyote keeper nabbed two saves.
 
Sophomore Kristen Womack (Roseville/Woodcreek HS) had a game-high four shots while senior Chelsea Strange (Manhattan Beach/Coastal Carolina), sophomore Regan Porteous (Lodi/St. Mary's HS) and Cobb each tallied two shots.
 
The Otters are on the road next week, traveling to Sonoma State on Friday, Oct. 11 at 4 p.m. and Humboldt State on Saturday, Oct. 13 at 11:30 a.m.
