Otters have important road series in southern California.
2013 West Regional Poll No. 1
SEASIDE, Calif. – Cal State Monterey bay men's soccer continues to make history by earning its first-ever NCAA Division II West Region ranking which was announced Wednesday. The Otters are ranked seventh in the first edition of 2013 NCAA regional rankings.
"It is a great honor to be recognized by the NCAA and especially in this region," said CSUMB Head Coach
Rob Cummings. "What this shows is that we as program are moving in the right direction. The players have worked extremely hard for this. But it's all about where you end that counts, but right now we are in a good spot."
The top six teams in the final NCAA Regional rankings will represent the West in the NCAA Championship Tournament beginning Nov. 13.
But first the Otters have their eyes set on making their second CCAA tournament appearance in program history. With four games remaining in the regular season, the Otters remain on top of the CCAA North Division standings with a 6-4-2 conference record (8-4-2 overall).
The Otters fell to Cal State Dominguez Hills in their
inaugural CCAA Tournament appearance in 2007, batting the Toros to a scoreless tie through regulation and two overtimes before falling short of an upset after a 9-8 shootout loss
CSUMB begins a three-game road trip at Cal Poly Pomona on Friday, Oct. 25. Kickoff is 12:30 p.m.
