SEASIDE, Calif. -- The Cal State Monterey Bay men's soccer team looks to break into the win column this week when it hosts California Collegiate Athletic Association North Division rival Sonoma State in the Otter home and CCAA opener Friday (Sept. 7) at the Otter Sports Complex. The match is schedule for a 3 p.m. kickoff as the second match of men's/women's doubleheader action.

Otter Men's Soccer Odds & Ends
FOR OPENERS: CSUMB's 3–0 setback at Fresno Pacific on Sept. 1 marked the ninth season opener in the NCAA Division II era of Otter men's soccer. The Otters are now 3–4–2 on opening day.
FOR HOME OPENERS: CSUMB is 2–5–1 in home openers at the NCAA Division II level, including last season's 1–1 draw with San Francisco State. This will be the first time the Otters have ever hosted Sonoma State in a home opener.
WOULD YOU LIKE PEPPER WITH THAT? The Otters (16) and Fresno Pacific (21) peppered the goals in the
CSUMB season–opener on Sept. 1 in Fresno. The teams combined for 37 shots, the second most in CSUMB history. The record for combined shots in a games is 41 set by CSUMB (17) and Humboldt State (24) in a 3–1 Otter victory on Sept. 21, 2007.
OTTERS PICKED FOURTH IN NORTH: The CCAA preseason coaches poll predicts the Otters will finish fourth in the CCAA North Division race — precisely where they finished in 2011. The Otter also were among those schools receiving votes to earn a berth in the CCAA Championship Tournament.
HUMBOLDT MATCHES CANCELLED DUE TO HAZING INCIDENT: Due to a hazing incident involving members of its men's soccer team, Humboldt State has cancelled its 2012 men's soccer season. This mean's games originally scheduled for Sept. 9 (at CSUMB) and Oct. 11 (at Humboldt) will not be played as scheduled.
