THIS WEEK IN OTTER MEN'S SOCCER HISTORY
Andy Binol's goal in the waning moments of regulation gave the Otters a 2–2 draw at No. 10 Sonoma State on Sept. 21, 2008.

OTTER MEN'S SOCCER ODDS & ENDS

SEARCHING FOR THE O: The Otters suffered back–to–back shutouts in losses at Chico State (0–1) and Cal State Stanislaus (0–2) last weekend. It marked just the second time in the Rob Cummings era that the Otters failed to score in consecutive games (Sept. 13–16, 2011). CSUMB has never gone three games without scoring under Cummings' leadership.

RECORD WATCH: Although shutout last weekend, senior Max Brixey scored his eighth career goal Sept. 7 against Sonoma State to take sole possession of the No. 4 spot on the CSUMB NCAA Division II career list. His 26 total points place him at No. 4 on that list as well. Senior forward Andrew Breault picked up his 10th career assist against Sonoma, moving him into a tie with Brixey and Nic Torricelli (2005–09) for the No. 3 spot on that list.

FINISH WHAT YOU STARTED: Though its scoring pace is slow so far this season, the Otter offense is creating chances. CSUMB has put a higher percentage of its shots on frame than its opponents (41.9 vs. 40.0 percent) through the first four matches.

WORKING HARD OR HARDLY WORKING? The Otters have played four matches so far in 2012 and, unusually, have yet to see overtime. The Otters have failed to play at least one overtime match through their first five matches just twice in their tenure at the NCAA Division II level. CSUMB has averaged four overtime matches per season since joining forces with the NCAA in 2004.
