Senior captain Max Brixey and the Otter offense couldn’t find the range Sunday in Turlock.
BOX SCORE
TURLOCK, Calif. — Winning on the road is always a dicey proposition in the California Collegiate Athletic Association. The Cal State Monterey Bay men's soccer team took that lesson to heart Sunday, dropping its second consecutive narrow defeat away from home, this time by a 2–0 margin at Cal State Stanislaus' Warrior Stadium.
CSUMB (0–4, 0–3 CCAA) managed a respectable 12 shots, but couldn't solve Stanislaus (4–1–1, 2–1–1) goalkeeper Clint Long, who made four saves for the clean sheet.
The Warriors got the only goal they would need in the second minute when Jose Ramirez tapped home from short range to reward the setup work of Josue Barajas and Jesse Horta. Carlos Gavino finished from the penalty spot just after the hour to account for the final margin.
Senior
Cory Calder made four saves in goal for the Otters.
Pieter Reed came off the bench to lead the offense, putting two if his team–high three shots on frame.
CSUMB will head to Southern California for its next three matches, beginning with a match under the lights at Cal State Dominguez Hills Friday (Sept. 21). Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
