SCOUTING ACADEMY OF ART:
The Urban Knights, under the direction of fourth-year Head Coach Alleen Nasypany, finished eighth in the Pac West standings in 2011 with a 2-8-2 record (4-10-2 overall). Art U relinquished 41 goals in 2011 while accumulating 20, five coming off the foot of junior forward Hannah Emmett.

LAST MEETING:  CSUMB leads the series against the Urban Knights 1-0.  The Otters racked up a 1-0 win on their home turf in 2008.

SCOUTING DOMINICAN:  The 2011 Penguins of Dominican registered an overall record of 3-14-1 with only one victory in the Pac-West Conference (5-1, Chaminade). Dominican supports a 1-6-1 record against CCAA schools, breaking the wall down with a 2-1 win in the 2011 season opener against Sonoma State. Senior midfielder Julianna Bratsberg led the Penguin offense with three goals and five assists for a total of 11 points. Sophomore defender Kendra Corsberg is the only other returner who knocked in goals for Dominican in 2011.

LAST MEETING:  While both were members of the California Pacific Conference, CSUMB faced Dominican in 2003 in the championship tournament when the Otters were still competing at the NAIA level.  The Otters were victorious with a 1-0 result.  CSUMB leads the series with a 4-3 advantage.

UP NEXT:  For the third consecutive season, CSUMB will open conference action at the Otter Sports Complex. The Otters welcome the Seawolves of Sonoma State on Friday, Sept. 7.

DEFENSE RISES:  The 2011 Otter defense played in record-setting fashion, allowing a school-low 31 goals with a 1.80 team goal against average.

ROAD WINS: All three Otter wins in 2011 came on the road. In addition to the season-opening victory at William Jessup, CSUMB posted a 1-0 win at Humboldt State and a huge 1-0 victory over CCAA Tournament Champion Cal State Stanislaus in Turlock.
