CSUMB steps up offense in second half, topping shots 6-4

BOX SCORE SAN FRANCISCO – San Francisco State used a pair of goals by Michelle Kay to defeat Cal State Monterey Bay 2-0 in a CCAA women's soccer match Friday at Cox Stadium.
 
The Gators opened the scoring in the 20th minute on a cross by Elizet Ceja that Kay put in the upper left corner of the goal.  SF State repeated the action in the 59th minute, this time with Kay finding the opposite goal corner on a cross from Graceann Rettig.
 
SF State outshot the Otters 12-9, but CSUMB had a slight 6-4 edge in the second half.
 
Junior Shoshana Wangerin led CSUMB with three shot attempts with two on target.  CSUMB also had a pair of shots from senior Lindsey Gatlin and freshman Kristen Womack while senior Gabriella Bozzo and sophomore Hannah Cobb each had one.
 
The Otters return to action Sunday, Oct. 21, traveling to Cal State East Bay for a 11:30 a.m. kickoff.   CSUMB returns back to the Otter Sports Complex to conclude its 2012 regular season on Friday, Oct. 26 to host Cal State San Bernardino.  On Sunday, Oct. 28, the Otters will take on the Tritons of UC San Diego with a special senior presentation prior to kick off.
