SAN FRANCISCO — The Cal State Monterey Bay women's basketball team raced to a 30–point lead early in the second half then withstood a long cold spell to defeat San Francisco State 64–56 Thursday night in The Swamp.
CSUMB (9-1, 6-0 CCAA) won for the seventh consecutive game and set up a show down at No. 11 Cal Poly Pomona Saturday in Pomona. SFSU fell to 2-10 and 1-5 with the loss.

Brittani Jefferson (Palmdale/Quartz Hill HS) posted her second consecutive double–double, leading the Otters with 14 points and a game-high 10 rebounds. Junior guard
Stefanie Corgel (Manhattan Beach/UCSB) scored 12 of her 14 points in the first half while
Jessica Fontenette (Chino Hills/Bishop Amat) added 10 points and four steals.
The Otters never trailed Thursday night and seemed poised to run away with this one early. They closed the first half on a 15-0 run to open a 39-17 advantage at the break. Four minutes into the second half a
Jenna Bandy (Thousand Oaks HS) three-pointer got the lead to 30 at 49-19.
But CSUMB went Antarctic from the floor from that point. The Otters one of their next 21 shots from the floor, allowing SFSU to slice the lead all the way down to six at 56-50 with 1:37 to play. But a Jefferson putback and three free throws over the next minute pushed the Otter lead back to 11 and put the game on ice.
